Balto's Story

Balto was rescued in the middle of the night with his other two siblings when the owner leaving town threatened to euthanize them if someone didn’t take them. The owner left town early, after dumping them in a remote part of town, while it was pouring rain. Fortunately Lacey agreed to Foster all three.

Balto is now in Bend, Oregon at Street Dog Hero, a foster home-based nonprofit rescue dedicated to rescuing street dogs from around the world.

Here is what Street Dog Hero says about Balto:

Balto is an adorable male Mexican Street Dog mixed breed pup who flew to the States from our rescue partner in Sayulita, Mexico. He and two other puppies were rescued as strays from the streets of the town of Sayulita. We're told that he's a little shy, playful, loving, curious, silly, gentle and definitely attention-loving. He does well with people, other dogs and even cats. He's up to date on his shots, is healthy and has already been fixed. Young pups like these will benefit from training, guidance, patience and lots of socialization opportunities, which will help with their growth and development. Someone who's home most of the day – who can tend to all of their puppy needs as they learn and grow – would be ideal for a young pup's long-term success. Submit your online adoption application today and don't miss this opportunity to meet Balto, so that you can bring him home for a home trial towards his adoption. Stay tuned for more photos and updates. Will you be his hero?
